Email Tracing is still a field in its infancy. There are very few investigators that are fully qualified to handle these types of investigations. Our computer forensic specialist has 10 years experience in the IT field, working as a systems and network administrator responsible for email administration, among other things. BCI has experience where it counts.
The tracing of an email can include the following:
Discovery of E-Mail Originator
Tracing of E-Mail to Its Source
Discovery of Internet Service Provider
Tracing of "anonymous" E-Mails such as Hotmail, Yahoo, MSN, etc.
We also utilize advanced techniques in order to establish the source of "munged" or altered emails, as well as tracing of supposedly "untraceable" emails such as Hushmail and others. Navigating the "headers", or path that an email has taken from start to finish, can be quite confusing.
Beware of the hype that an expensive website can generate. This does NOT mean the owner of that site can trace an email. There are a great deal of "investigators" in this "wild west" of the internet that commonly trace the wrong computers, while alleging all types of credentials.
Our investigator is constantly exploring this field, learning new techniques and keeping abreast of emerging technologies. If it can be traced, most likely we can get it for you.
